Your friend Mr. Alexander Spalding Gordon who's Case
has been sent till the 9th. June on which Evening the pain
in the fore part of the head and Eyes became still more
violent and slight Inflammation of the Eyes to appe now
appeared The 10th. Inflammation of the Eyes increased in
the evening had three Leaches applied to each Tempale
which fixed and blooded freely his skin being rather
dry and parched. The two preceding days Pulse from
seventy to eighty two. Took each night 30 Gutta vinum anti¬
moniall with 20 Gutta L. L which produced a [breathing?]
sweat and moderate Rest. The 11th. Inflamation still
more increased used Eye water prepared of vitriolum album
saturnum Sal: Vitre aq: Rosarum with Cataplasm
of the Conserve Rosarum and saccharum saturni applied to his
Eyes, and applied stimulatory Cataplasm to his Feet
and anclets he finding some wandering pains in those
parts Took no medicine sleept none, spirits oppressed,
appetite weak. The 12th. Inflamation and pain in his Eyes
much the same complaining much yesterday and
Today of a fixed pain behind the right Ear with great
stiffness in the muscles of the neck. On Examination
found a small fulness and hardness upon the right side
of the second vertibrae of the neck quite fixed whither in

in the muscle or Bone cannot judge. Renewed the stimulat¬
ing Cataplasms to the feet and put one to the hind parts of
his Neck. Continued the use of the Repellant Eye water
and Cataplasms to the Eyes. Spirits a good dale depressed
Pulse seventy six. I learn from his From his friends and [self?]
he has had some former attacks of the golt and his delicate
nerves you are a Judge of. His nerves are at present
much affected and often have violent Spasms in the parts
affected. June 12th. 5 o'Clock afternoon
N. B. Since the above was written I have removed the
Cataplasms from his feet and find the right anclet
a little swelled and the Big Toe of the left foot. --
