Dear Sir

I saw your Fathe[r y]esterday and found him
much in the same way he has been in for these eight or Ten
days past his sole complaint being want of Apetite
and a depression of Spirits

You will remember that in Aprile last he was
Atacked with that Irretention of Urine which he took
to be Gravelish but on being sounded was Convinced
that he had no Gravel his pulse at that time being
very quick and full
he was blooded by which together with
the use of Bark and Port wine and Riding frequently
he was so well recovered that from the midle of May
to the first of July he seemed to have no complaints
about the begining of July he was sized with a Vomiting
and nothing stayed on his Stomach but the first time I saw
him after this hapned his disorder raither seemed to be
of the Flatulent kinds which after taking any thing
ended in violent Eructations atended with low spirits
for these he took Castor ↑and Hartshorn drops in Mint Tea these went
off and for two day sucessively he was sized with a cold
fitt
and trembling on the last of these days I saw him
when as he has been better of blooding befor he was very
desirous that I should take some but the trembling fitt
coming on whilest I was there And his pulse having a
very
Agueish apearance I declined it but several
days after when I saw him again he having very had no
more of these fitts and his pulse continuing very quick
I Bled him and found a very thick strong Buff on
the Blood and as he complained of a pain and Coldness by times
in his left Leg and thigh from his loin down which he said
frequently he had found to be the foreruner of the Irretention
of Urine
I ordered a blister to be aplyed to that Leg and Arm
of that side and one of them to be keepd open for some time
at the same time I ordered him some Stomachic Bitters
the Blisters are Running but he has not has time yet to try the Bitters
All this time he has been very Regular in his Belly- This so far
as I can remember is an acount of his Complaints for these 4 Months
past if Dr Cullen wants to be solved in any other thing relating to him please
acquaint

Your most Obedient humble Servant
Robert Clapperton
