I'm of opinion that Mrs Steven¬
son is not recovering right, on Sunday she
was dispirited and it was an oppression to her
to speak her mouth and the insides of her cheeks
were white ad crusted like a young Child
in the Aphthæ, I have ↑given↑ her a Gargarism with of
the Tincture of Red Roses Elixir Vitriol Acid.
and Mellis with some common Syrup with which
she washes her throat frequently and large
pieces of the crust come off with it, she did not
take her Bolus on saturday, on Account of her
looseness her friends did not give it she took
the draught, on Sunday She omitted both Bolus
and Draught; yesterday she had some return of
the Diarrhoea with a little gripeing, I order'd the
Bolus Draught to be given; She notwithstands
her haveing taken no Anodyne has a strong
inclination to sleep, which greatly alarms her
[Daughter?] And she wou'd choose to interrupt her but
as she always says she's refresh'd with her sleep
[Page 2]
and finds herself better when she awakes, I forbid
them, till I shou'd hear from you her fever is greatly
abated I found her Pulse on Sunday and yesterday at
84 and her skin cool, I'm not quite certain that I
see her to day but gave orders if She had any return
of her Diarrohea to take the Bolus; Pray do you think
her vomit may be repeated, pray write me what you
think must be done, Meantime I am Dear Sir
your Most Humble
Servant
