Dear Sir
Since I had the Pleasure of your last
concerning Mrs. Henderson, The Lady affected with the
Pain of her side &c. She has been, till lately, easier
but not recovering rightly. -- The Pain in her Side was
not so violent, but she had an Uneasiness over all her Belly
Her Pulse continued about 96 in the minute, She had
little Appetite, and only slept well now and then, so could
not get much strength, however she picked up such a degree
as to able to be several times abroad in a Carriage, and likewise
walked out sometimes when good Weather. She had a
Dysuria Some weeks ago, which continued or 8, or ten
days and then gradually went off. She gave up the
Pil. ex Colocynth. of Aloe, used the Aloetic now and then, and
becoming regular in the Belly needed no laxative.
This Day sennight she was Seized with the Pain of her
Side very severely, was hot, thirsty, vomited several things
was costive & Her Pulse 120 in the Minute. She got an
Injection which gave a plentiful Stool, and afterwards
a pretty large Dose of the Tinct. Thebaic. She had some
sleep and the Pain was not so violent next day. Complain:¬
ing of a Tenesmus She had an Emollient Injection & passed
besides some Fæces. a clear mucus-like Stuff with some
of it of a thicker Consistence and dark Colour. In my last
to you I omitted to mention that she had then voided ↑by stool↑ some
[Page 2]
bloody Mucus which she had since or oftner since. She thinks herself
↑easier↑ after discharging any of that Matter. She for several Days past
has complained little of the Pain in her Side, but a general Soreness,
as she names it, over all her Belly -- She continues to void Some of
that Stuff with and without Fæces, the Uncommon Heat & Thirst
are gone, Pulse 96, in the morning but quicker in the Evening.
I am to attempt Nothing but to keep her Belly open & the Opiate
when necessary, till I am favoured with your Advice. She was
affected with the Piles when pregnant, but no since Delivery.
I have caused the Rectum to be examined by a Finger in Ano but
No Marisca there or any preternatural appearance there.
I am. with Esteem --

most humble Servant
