Normalized Text
For Mrs Fenwick
Gravel in
the right kidney and measures must be taken to
prevent their return; but as they require a length of time and
cannot be entered upon at present I shall only offer directions
for relieving the fits when they come on
1. To prevent Costiveness and for that if you pass two days
without a stool, take a Dose of the Laxative Oil No 1.
2 If a fit comes on and you suspect
some Costiveness you ought
immediately the Glyster No 2.
3. If in spite of this the pain and Vomiting continue and the last
occasioning much straining without bringing up such a Draught
or two of warm water may be taken to make the straining a
little easier, but if it be not for this purpose, I would not
advise the encouraging of ↑the↑Vomiting
and would rather stop it
and relief the pain by L.L. If the Vomiting
be moderate
a Dose of 25 or 30 Drops maybe swallowed in a little water
and Sugar, but if this should be immediately rejected I would not
attempt any more L.L. by the mouth
but immediately
try it by the Glyster No 3.
No 1. Take 3 ounces of Castor Oil1 ounce of Elixir Salutis. Mix. Label: Laxative Oil from ½ a spoonfull to two spoonfulls
No 2. Three Gills of Water Gruel- a Spoonful of common Salt - the same of brown Sugar - two spoonfulls of Florence oil. Mix for Enemas
No. 3. Take a 50 drops of L.L. to an Ounce of Gum Arabic dissolved in four ounces of Water - Mix for Enemas
