Sir

I'm desir'd by Lady Williamson ↑of Whitburn↑ (who
sent you a Letter Dated the 5th. of this month
but apprehends it has misscarried) to Inform you
that Her Son is in every Respect Better,
excepting his Rest at Nights, which are is
very much Interrupted
, by a kind of nervous
convulsion
, particularly at his Breast; this
anxiety, & wrestling, is so great; the Nurse
is oblidg'd to awake him; & in the Morning
complains of a soreness of his whole Body, as if
beat with a rod; & finds himself more weary in
the Morning, than at Night when he went to Bed.

In order to Help him, He has taken the genuine
Assafœtida, & camphor Pills; with the Use of
Sea-bathing; which were very likely means to
assist him; but they have not had the
wish'd for effect. He tells me, you told him
that if these Pills did not make him have
better nights; you would change his Medicine.
Your Patient is a Promising young Man

[Page 2]

& I confide through Time, He will be Better; but in
the Interim; If a Remedy can be Prescribed, that will take
off this agitation of the nervous system, Please
to send it me; & a Proper Return will be made you,
by the first Friend of Her Ladyships that is comeing for
Edinburgh. If that should not happen, the young
Gentleman purposes waiting upon you himself in
the Spring
