Mr Wm Ferguson
I have the favour of your letter to day
but had none before. I am sorry to find that your ail¬
ment Still continues to return but it is some amendment
that it does not return So often as before and that the returns
are chiefly in the night time. Tho your medicine has
I think been of Some Service it has not however done so
much as I expected and I do not think it proper for you
to continue ↑it↑ any longer at present. But I do not wish
to give up all attempts for your relief and therefore Send
you inclosed another prescription which you will please
try for two or three weeks. It will not like any of the
former medicines affect your Stomach and therefore you
are to continue the Same dose for the time mentioned.
I would wish that at the Same time ↑you Should↑ continue cold bathing
and the Same cool diet as formerly advised. As the Sea¬
son at present Sets in warm you must take particular

care never to be heated either by exercise or by being in
the Sun. Wishing ↑you↑ heartily better health I am
Dear Sir
your most obedient servant
Edinburgh 21 June

Instead of inclosing I Send the prescription
I propose on the other page.
