Doctor Cullen
Dear Sir


I was called
to see a Mr: Glassils from the neighbourhood
of Edinburgh who has been directed by you to
go a Jaunt for the recovery of his Health
I waited upon him in a Gentlemans house
a little way from hence, he complained of
a Slight pain in each of his Ancles accom¬
panied with a Slight degree of Erysepelatous
Inflamation & swelling, it had begun on
one side & had gradually gone round to the
other side of each Ancle.- was always most
swelled & painful in the Evenings &
better in the morning it had continued

fully two Days, it is this Day almost gone,
but still a considerable sense of weackness con¬
tinues in each Ancle Joint. which symptom
he felt a Day or two before the Inflamation
& swelling commenced & has continued ever
since. ----- His Health is otherways the
same as when you last saw him, the throw¬
ing up
still continueing at times; has a
pain tho not very acute almost constantly
in the Crown of his Head. says he had a
small Boil on one of his hips even before
you last saw him but forgot to mention it
to you it has continued to discharge a
very little till this Day. -----------


He is gone up into Galloway for 5 or 6
Days & would beg of you to return your
opinion of the above Symptoms &c. per

first post either to me, or to be left for
him at the post office here. -----


I desired him to keep his limbs very
warm, not to ride on horsback, & to take
a Table Spoonful of the Tinctur. Rhei

Doctor Cullen
Dear Sir
