Dunstaffnage 25th. April 1785

Dear Sir


The Journal of Miss Campbells case last sent
ended at Midday on Friday 22d. That Evening she was in¬
clined to slumber
- pains &c as before - At 8 p.m. took 28 grains
of Musk & 225 drops L.L. -- at 12 p.m. no better. Took 200 drops L.L.
Saturday 23d. About 6 a.m. much the same only the
shakings not so violent took 100 drops L.L. In the forenoon very
sick & vomited a good dale of sour & Bitter Stuff of a dark
green & Yellowish colour with much very viscid Phlegm - A
few prunes & a small bit of Biskot she had eat two days
before was thrown up, with musk, indigested: very weak for
some time after -- fits much weaker & less frequent, pain
in the stomach easier & inclined to [doze?] -- In the Evening could
not be prevailed on to take a 25 grain dose of Musk - no fits, but
very sick & severe headach - at 12 p.m. took 250 250 drops L.L.


Sunday 24th. at 5 a.m. continuing the same, but rather more
pained in the Stomach took 200 drops L.L. -- inclined to Slumber all
day -- in the Evening took a few tea Spoonfuls of panada, and
was not more uneasy after it -- had several short sleeps ---


Monday 25 at 1 o'Clock a.m. Waked, having had several short
but disturbed sleeps
, which prevented her taking her Medicine till
now, took 250 drops L.L. -- refused the Musk -- complaints as
yesterday - had two fits, brought on by a slight alarm -- Slept a little --
Before 6 a.m. growing more uneasy & restless took 200 drops L. L.
At 1 p.m. very sick, Languid & inclined to puke, but her
headach & other pains easier - pulse since Friday from 60
to 70
-- would have had a laxative last night, but she felt so
weak, could not think of the operation, & refuses Injections of all
Kinds
-- Sweated about the head for some days past, but no where
else --
