The Young Man whom Mr Livingstone made
Mention off on Sunday, is a natural Son, [bred?] to the Sea
and has been for these twenty years bypast in the East
Indies, when he left that Country about Seven Months ago
he had a Venereal complaint, for which he Says he took
a great dale of Mercury, on his passage home, when I asked
him what Effects it had upon him; he says it never touched
his mouth but always gave him Gripes, with Looseness
upon which Account he was oblidged to give it up, he is of Opinion
that he is entirely free of the Venereal complaint, his disease
at present is a Diarrhea with tenesmus, but without
any pain in his Bowels; in other respects in very good health
his Apetite good, and has no Objections to his glass, if the Laird
would allow him, his diet is chiefly Milk, which seems to agree
with his stomach, and in the whole is a good dale recruited since
he came to Clarkstone, which is about a fortnight ago-
The Laird since he came from Edinburgh complains of a Giddiness
in his head, particularly when he rises from his Seat quickly
I Atribute it to his Stomach, being a little disordered he is to
begin tomorrow to take some more of the Aperient Solution which
will probably have good Effect, I ever am
Dear Sir
Your Most Obedient Servant
