Sir

When I wrote you two days ago - I
forgot to acquaint you of some Material
points - which possibly you might be glad
to know - of my former, as well as present
state of constitution circumstances which
may had perhaps to some measures to be taken
& advised in a future Regimen or course
of medicine - I was put in remembrance of
them by some question asked me by Monsr
Bouvart at Paris - whether I had suffered much
in my youth with Venereal disorders - that
he suspected there might be something of
which /ill cured/ lurking in my blood -
now, and I answered - that I had often that
disorder - the last of which about 15 or 16 years
ago - but no Symptom - of the like, since then
indeed I had always since very young frequent
excoriation in the Prepuce and have still
but goes away in a few days by the application
of dry lint. I had often in my life endured mostly
after use very disagreeable swellings of the
Prepuce and the skin tore off I should have still
was I to have the means or capacity of acting
which I have not had any or very little incli¬
nation for some years - when I had an appear¬
rance of an erection last year - I had pain with
it
- and the Penis - drawn with Pain to one Side

[Page 2]

as well as - bent inward very much like
the same as Corder - but has had none since
excoriations & tightness in the Prepuce I have
occasionally - - I am now often attacked with
a Coldness or chilliness - especially after going
to bed a little time - and much fever after it
I have had a great deal of it these two days past
with a confusion and disagreeable feeling
in my Eyes - no head Ach at present - but
sometimes I mean two or 3 times a year -
very violent ones - my Pulse in general
quicker in the morning
than when I go to
bed - constant cold feet - obliged to wrap them in
warm flannel when I lay down - a sudden change
of weather of late has made me much worse -
the most of my disorder lays in the bottom of my
stomach
. I believe some great obstruction or
relaxation in the Pylorus - this is wholly a
suggestion of my own - I have often always at
present a coldness in my Arms - is that an indi¬
cation - of cloathing - I have perhaps too little -
my feelings already begin to make me dread
being obliged to go further South next winter
I dont wish it unless really obliged. I have
here, at my home, every comfort I could wish
but Climate - I have been attacked with a great
cold within these ten days - it continues - which
prevents me from being so much in the open Air
as I usually am - I mean to be in Town in the
Winter if it will do - once more I beg your forgive¬
ness - and believe me to be with great esteem &
regard

Sir your most obedient
humble Servant
George Clerk
