Upon opening the Body of Ralph Bates Esqr: the
Omentum was found adhering in some Parts to
the Intestines - The Liver, free from Abscess, had
many Schirri in it's Substance and Surface,
the Gall-Bladder and Ductus communis cho¬
ledochus
were in an inflam'd State and ap¬
pear'd to have been very much distended
with Bile obstructed in it's Passage to the Duo¬
denum
by a large Schirrous Tumour extend¬
ing from the Root of the Mesentery and appear¬
ing to press against the Intestine in that
Part, where the Ductus communis enters -
The Stomach contain'd near a Pint of mor¬
bid Bile - No Gall stones were found nor
was ever any discover'd in his Stools, tho' very
attentively examind -
