Before I had the pleasure to receive yours, I was so
dreadfully tormented with Gripes Accompany'd with the Flux
that the Surgeon gave me a Glister, which had the good effect
not only to give me relief but also stopt the Flux. I was so reduced
in my strength that I coud scarcely walk through the Room, but now
from Ass Milk & gentle exercise I am greatly recruited, would the
Wind but Change I am hopefull I will soon recover my usual
Strength --- What I now trouble you about is my Old com¬
plaint, I find some New tumors coming on which I know no
Medicine will prevent breaking, but I woud wish to know if there
is any thing you can order me to stop any further progress of
the distemper till such time as I return to Moffat, where I intend
going the end of next Month, as I can not conveniently go sooner
At present I am not able to wait on you from Weakness, so you
may let me know what I should do in the mean time, & how soon
I can move from Home I will attend you in Town. I am
respectfully
Dear Sir Your most Obedient Servant
