Mrs [N. I.?] Selby's Case
The Lady is about 18 years old, had her Menses
regular before marriage (which was in March last)
after that She ceased to alter for some months & it
was thought most prudent to forbear taking any
medicine lest She might be pregnant tho' no other
symptom of pregnancy appear'd- then (↑[Then?]↑) She menstru¬
ated once more which was about 4 months ago
& not since -- during the above time She has been
afflicted with a Cough & spitting which has all
the appearance of Pus & at times has had a
discharge of blood mixed with the purulent
Matter which She expectorates - Her Pulse has
been all along quicker than natural & after
Noon the quickness increases & is accompanied
with febrile heat - at the same time She
complains of cold, as She mostly does at all
times. - She cannot bear exercise without great
fatigue & has no inclination to it. Her appetite
is very weak, her Spirits low & She seems to lose
flesh - She was once bled when she had the Hemoptoe
[Page 2]
& it was sizey - She seldom sleeps well on accounts
of the Cough & almost every morning awakes in a
profuse sweat -- This detail of her complaints
(since I have visited Her) may be thought unnecessary
if the Physician is to see Her; but it will save
Her the pain and trouble of inumerating them
Herself, & I hope convince Her & her Friends,
that tho' I have troubled Her with very few
Medicines yet that I am, & always have been
anxious for Her welfare.
