After being gone from Edinburgh I beg leave to Acquaint
you of my health since that time, I have carefully
Observd your Instructions respecting my diet, & in
takeing the Medicines which you Prescribed, Thank
Providence I'v Experienced some relief, my Stomach
& Bowels being some what stronger, but am not so
happy to say I am well-, am under Apprehensions
of some other Complaint, Lately, I'v felt my Eyes
{illeg} Dull, and very painful, and if I dont conceit it,
I think my Eyes rather Inclind to be Yellow which
makes me dread the Jaundice- I have bin very Costiv↓e↓
but yet have had a regular Stool once a day, without
the Assistance of Andersons Pills- This few days
past I'v taken my Electuary only once a day in
stead of Twice, My body is rather more open- I'v
Refraind from eating garden things. Tarts, Applepy,
Sweet mates sowering of any kind- Malt Liquor &C,
the Latter I regrett the Lorse of much- I beg pardon
Sir and hope your good Nature will Look over the
Impropriety's- as you are the better Able to Judge of
my Complaint from my meaning, then I am Able
to Explain it,- Hope you'll Excuse me a Little longer,
and permit me to ask you a few more questions
pleas to Turn over
[Page 2]
my Dependance Upon your Judgement and Advise is such-
That when I have your Answer I shall be more easy in my
mind- if you think there is any dainger of the Jaundice
from my present mode of diet or Likely to be brought on
by the medicines I am now Taking- Please to mention and
give me your Instructions Accordingly- or any thing else
which you think may be Condusive to Establish my
health- the Possession of which- Through the Blessing of
God I shall be Indebted to you for- and shall be happy
when I come to Edinburgh to make you satisfaction- I rest &
sleep much better then I did- Please to mention if Applepy
or Tart is Hurtfull in my present Complaint- Expect
to ↑be↑ home off my Journey in a few Days and then will give
my self the pleasure of procuring you some neat Cocoa
Shells- In the meantime shou'd be much Oblige to you
to give me a few Lines with such Useful hints as in your
wise Judgement you may think needfull in the Interim
