Mr: aged about 50 years of a Corpulent
Habit and remarkably subject in his youth to
Inflammatory Disorders and tho' very much used to
a Sedentary life. The Diathesis Plogistica
still appears to prevail. for many years has
complained at Intervals of Considerable oppres¬
sion at the Epigastric Region. attended frequently
with pain & Sickness especially after meals, which
was somewhat relieved by Belshing. This com¬
monly happened whatever diet he used. Ten
or Twelve years agone for the Course of three
or four winters. Had pain & Swelling in the
lower part of his belly, which was relieved by
passing flatus per anum. These several
years has been troubled with pains in the
Arms, Sides, Thighs, Legs & feet. (chiefly
in the left side) which appeared of the Rheu¬
matic kind. The pains being chiefly seated in
the larger joints which often Alternated with
the Stomachic complaints while these pains conti¬
nued severe in the Joints, was generally free from 1

The uneasy sensation at the Epigastric Region and
(Vice Versa) the pains were severest in Cold weather
after motion. Has been Deaf in the right Ear with Tin¬
n↑i↑tus for a year past at present he is better. Fœces
often slimy sometimes whitish sometimes yellow
About August last was suddenly seized
with violent pains in his Belly which gradually
extended from the left haunch to the Pubis
of the same side with Considerable pain in the
left Testis. These Symptoms were removed
by an Emollient Injection, Salts &c. Complained
at same time of fullness at Præcordia want of
Appetite and slight Sickness which with the
pain left him.
Continued free from Complaint untill the
End of September when a like pain, following
the same course, but more violent, especially in
The Testis; continuing twelve or fourteen hours without
Intermission attacked him. Towards the end extending
to the back, gradually abated for about twelve hours
and then recurred with greater Violence than ever,
attended with oppression at Stomach. want of
Appetite Sickness &c. with a Violent pain at the
points of the Penis, at the left side, where the Præputium
joins; on making water with an almost constant

Inclination thereto. Urine passing freely tho' not above
above a spoonful at a time. Pulse full and strong tho' not
quick. Difficulty in Breathing frequent sobings &c the pain
in the Belly now became easier. returning at five or six
minutes distance, tho' transient, thro' the Penis & Testis
and continued so for five or six days after the pain in
the Urining went off. The urine was very high coloured with¬
out sediment. These Complaints yielded to Glysters.
Gentle purges of Salts. Semicupium. Venesection often
repeated. mucilaginous Decoctions with the Antiphlogis¬
tic regimen. for sometime after this severe fit. continu¬
ed better than before. lived very regular on a low regimen
within these few days has observed a slight degree of
fullness and pain at the Epigastrium, especially
towards evening which is much relieved by the heat
and pressure of his hand. These three or four days past
has had a severe pain situated betwixt the last of the
false ribs and Ilium about 2 fingers breath from
the Spine which continues fixed to the same place
attended with high coloured urine. The pain shoots as
it were from a centre
Since the first attack of these pains pas¬
ses at times great quantities of water at other times
natural but still with out pain
Has been subject to a Discharge of Blood from
the Anus for about three years to the quantity of
six ounces at a time preceded by slight symptoms
of Distention and voided without pain. Blood drawn

during the Disease covered with a strong Buffy coat
and appearance of oppression of the lungs with whee¬
zing of the Trachea, upon going to Bed, which
went off upon (↑with↑) spitting up some tough Phlegm.
Has had a confused pain in the left side of the head
for some time attended with a giddiness His com¬
plaints in general are confined to the left
side. Has had none in the Right side, all
the Complaints in the Abdomen terminate
Abruptly at the Linea Alba and never
extend to the right side
