Alexr Hanna, l aged about fourty, has for a long
time been ill with stomachic pains, and a general
indigestion. The origin of these complaints he traces so
far back as sixteen years ago: then he felt himself
exceedingly chilled by cold, which was followed by
a general uneasiness through the whole body, pains
in the bones, (and a creeping throgh the flesh), these
continued for a long time: at length the pain in the
bones abated; but that sensation which he calls a creep¬
ing in the flesh is still now and then felt.
Also, about six years after the above mentioned
cold, he was strained and hurt in handling some
heavy stones, this brought on inward pains, at first
wandering, but by degrees they were felt more frequen[t]
and more severe in the right side, about an inch below
the middle of the short rib, and extending upward along
that side. Also a violent pain is often felt about an
inch below the cartilago xiphoides, this pain is gener¬
aly increased by taking any food and as generally
relieved by throwing it up.
His digestion is remarkably impaired obliged to
throw up every kind of food he takes, unless a little
thin milk gruel, by this he is very much weakened
unable to follow labour.
He is generally very costive, but is now and then

procure a stool or two, tho some times he throws them up.
He also complains of a pain from the stomach to
