Notes
Baptised in 1718 in Elgin, the son of Alexander and Isobel Innes. Died on the 15th March 1765 in Elgin. He lived in Woolwich until 1760, when his address was 101 High Street, Elgin. This can possibly be attributed to the loss of his right arm and the fingers of his left hand in January 1759 in the taking of Basse Terre, Guadeloupe. For further details see Marshall Smelser, 'The Campaign for the Sugar Islands, 1759' (University of NC, Chapel Hill, 1955) p.89. Writes seeking advice regarding stomach problems and wound management. |
