Dear Sir,

As the goat whey course agreed with her very well last year tho it
did not do much service to her cough & Asthma, I should have been
for her trying it again this season and it is not yet too late; however her
drinking whey as she does at present is the next best. I am sorry to find
that Riding fatigues her more than formerly, but I beg she may not cease
to take what she can bear for I consider it as one of her best remedies
I doubt it any remedy can entirely remove the Cough and Asthma
but I am as well perswaded that a proper Regimen and Exercise will
make them easier. I still think the Regimen formerly directed
the most proper, and as you mention no inconvenience that arises
from it, I cannot find any reason for changing my advice.

If she does not go to goat whey I think she should return to
Mares Milk which is just now in season. I have no objection to Cows
Milk Conserve but the Mares Mares Milk when she cannot get the other

[Page 2]

I think Miss Watson formerly declared her aversion to any issue
and you mention none but I still think she might be the better for a
drain of that kind. For the Cough and Asthma the only Medecine I have
now to propose is the S . Let her try the ordinary decoction of ℥ to
the . . Of this she may take two Spoonfulls in the morning and at
and at an interval of two hours repeat it once or twice keeping within
the quantity that may touch her belly; tho its keeping her open will do no
harm purging might.

For the hoarseness you mention I consider it as in some
measure connected with her Cough and Asthma, but I hope it may be
relieved by the Syrup of the horse radish made in the same manner
as the Sirupus ex allio in the London dispensatory. Of this Syrup she may
take a tea Spoonfull several times a day laying it upon her tongue
and swallowing it leisurely. If this proves very hot to her throat you
must make the Syrup Weaker. After the Syrup and frequently at other
times Let Miss Watson hold a bit of pure Gum Arabick in her mouth
till it dissolves there and is swallowed leisurely, these measures shall
I hope relieve the hoarseness and even be of Service to her Cough and As¬
thma
, and if you find anything farther to be observed on this you may
depend upon
