For Mr Bethune of Balfour


Alous sevetur ↑aperta↑ liber a usu Elix Sacr: 1
Drink, Diet, Exercise, Fleshbrush

Take an ounce and a half of finely powdered Peruvian Bark, a drachm and a half each of powdered white Cinnamon and powdered Green Vitriol, one ounce of conserve of Orange Peel and a sufficient quanity of syrup of Cloves to make an Electuary. Label: the Stomachic Electuary, the bigness of a filbert to be taken three times a day.

Notes:

1: The Latin is rather cryptic, but a part translation might be rendered as "discontinue the Sacred Elixir if it creates looseness"(?).
