Mr. Dirom
I have considered Mr. Diroms report
of the 8th. current which I got two days ago.
By that report it appears that his
ailment is of a very obstinate kind, and de¬
pends upon a local affection which is always
difficult to remove, as we cannot get at the
internal part affected, and can only work
on the general System. From the same re¬
port I perceive that I judged very properly
of the effects of posture. The alteration that
occurrs in Mr. Dirom is indeed singular
and now that I am to advise a new medicine
I will advise him to try lying a bed for eight
days together [whilst he tries?] the prescription
that I have put upon the inclosed paper.
The particulars formerly prescribed are now
to be entirely omitted, but the liquid is to
be continued only made a little stronger
