The Consultation Letters of Dr William Cullen (1710-1790) at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh
[ID:5502] From: Dr William Cullen (Professor Cullen) / To: Miss Magdalane Elizabeth Hamilton (Maddy; of Westburn) / Regarding: Miss Magdalane Elizabeth Hamilton (Maddy; of Westburn) (Patient) / 7 August 1787 / (Outgoing)
Reply to Maddy Hamilton concerning her own case, pp.221-2. Cullen gives her advice on travelling between her various relations scolding her for her 'delicacy' about staying in private houses, and says that 'If you will come to Ormistonhill I will lodge you, feed you and Nurse you as long as it can be of any service to you with the greatest good will'. His remarks about sailing with a 'Jonas' refers to Sir William Howe, mentioned in Doc ID 3211, presumably because of his lack of success on his American campaign.
