For Captain Hook

We are happy that his right Eye is so well & are not surprised at the left
being not so - but the inflammation of the Right Eye maybe easily
brought back even by very slight causes - the infection of the left to be removed [as?] by avoiding
all irritation to either eye - For this purpose the Eye water below to bathe the
left Eye two or three times a day
- Every morning to open his Eyes, in cold water

While the Infection remains - he must use a Middle Cool Diet, avoiding full
meals of animal food - no meat at supper & both at Dinner & supper,
wine or other strong drink in very great moderation-

While the Infection remains, he should once a week take a Dose of Cooling
Laxative Salts, & if costive, he should take them oftener - Altho the
right Eye be so well, yet he should carefully avoid every cause of Irritation
particularly the sitting near a fire - reading or writing much - stooping or
hanging his head - warm Chambers &c

8 ounces of rose Water, 8 grains Sugar of Lead and if it is whitish let there be added a sufficient quantity of vinegar distellate so it becomes clear. Label: Eye water
