For Mr Malcolm.

As his pain of hind head & noise in his ears has
I believe been owing to the Nervous fever I am not much
surprised at its having continued long but I hope it is
in a way of going off & may be removed entirely by
a perpetual blister on the nape of the neck, kept open
for some time. The only other remedy I would pro¬
pose to him is prescribed below.

I believe the eruptions on face and other parts con¬
tribute to his health & at least it would [certainly?]

[Page 2]

be dangerous to remove them, & especially by topical
applications. If in spring the Eruptions increase he
may take a teaspoonful, more or less as the stomach bears
it, of Antimonial wine every night & morning.

Any cathartics would do much harm. But in the
spring in case of considerable eruption and his belly
not being free he may for two or three weeks take
every morning a dose of the solution prescribed below.

Moderation in diet. No animal food at supper.
Moderation especially necessary in strong drink.
Keep good hours; exercise, & avoid cold ––

Seldom take fish untill free of the eruptions.

Take 1½ ounce of Volatile Valerian Tincture and a ½ ounce of Spirit of Peppermint Water Mix. Label: Cephalic tincture.

Take 2 ounces of Soluble Tartar, an ounce of Glauber's salts, a ½ ounce each of Spanish Sea-salt and Polychrest Salt, 4 ounces of simple Cinnamon Water, and 8 ounces of spring water. Dissolve and strain. Label: Aperient Solution a table spoonful or two in a pint of fresh cow milk whey ––––
