Mr D. Wemyss Concerning Miss Kerr.
I am sorry for her return of Colics – you have mana¬
ged it very properly. –– Nothing but large Doses of
Liquid Laudanum g can overcome such Spasms. ––––
I suspect the large Dose of Liquid Laudanum was not early
enough exhibited & if you make up draughts to stand
by her, let them be of one hundred drops each. –
& if, in two hours after she be not easier let her
take the second. – You do right & continue to
keep her belly open ––
As she seems doubtfull of the musk and has an
Aversion from it, I will not insist upon her taking
it, tho I think it very possible that she might bear it
in substance, tho the Smell be very offensive to her.
I must repeat repeat what I have said before
(see ) that tho the spitting of blood & pain of
her side be very disagreeable circumstances we can do
little for them at present & the only thing to be done is to
apply the Blister to her side again, as soon as you safely
can ––––
