Dr Richardson Concerning Mr Brougham
Not much surprised at a return of his Complaints as stomach
complaints are often obstinate & liable to returns.
We must persist in the Strengthening Course & therefore
in the Chalybeate Tincture but instead of the Mixture
let him take the Medicine below № 1.
Let him still continue to take the Elixir when
the pain of his stomach arises & especially in the
night. – Further to prevent these pains in the night
[Page 2]
let him take a tea spoonfull of the Powder
№ 2. in a glass of Water when he is going to bed. ––
Let him continue his Diet and riding on horseback
& keep his belly regular by an Aloetic Pill when
necessary. ––
№ 1. Take 2 ounces each of the Tinctures of Bitters and of Peruvian Bark, an ounce of Aromatics, and 5 ounces each of Simple Cinnamon and Peppermint Waters. Mix. Label: Stomachic Tincture two table spoonfulls to be taken after every dose of the Drops. ––––
№ 2. Take 2 ounces of prepared Chalk and 2 scruples of ground Ginger. Mix. Label: Stomachic Powder a tea spoonfull in a glass of water at bedtime
