For the Reverend Mr Elliot.
Difficult to remove disorders brought on
by grief. Few medsmedicines can be of service to you but let
Mr Pringle gr. XX 1 of Dovers powder in the morning
& give you at the same time directions how to de¬
termine it properly to sweat you. If you bear it
easily and it have good effects [in?] relieving your
pains the same dose or a little larger may be repea¬
ted in two days after the first. If you get tolerably
free from your pains the disturbance of your mind
must be composed by exercise & you should be as often
on horseback as the weather will allow: if you
[cover?] well & secure against cold, you may ride in
bad weather with benefit. Walking at all times
if not with great fatigue will be of service.
