Ailments trouble some but not dangerous ---
To be mended more by Regimen than Medicines. --
1. Fresh air & gentle exercise. a little walking - but riding
on horseback best. an easy Journey for tw or three weeks. -
2 always gaurd against cold -- flannel Shirt. &c.
2 No Common Tea nor Coffee. Cocoa Tea for breakfast-
No Sweets ---
3. At Dinner Plain Soup without any Vegs. -- Any
plain meat. fish sparingly - filling up his meal with
pudding & bread in his soup. - or such Vegs. as are young
& tender. & not windy
4. At Supper hardly every Animal food -- milk & milk
meats most proper - or milk mixed with gruel water gruel
& Sugar.
5. Ordinary drink water. no Malt liguors --
At Dinner a glass or two of Strong wine; but
Spirits & water better
6. Always keep his belly regular & removeCostiveness
by the Pills below.
Take two drachms of Aloetic pill-mass and divide into twenty-four pills. Label: Laxative Pill. 1 or 2 as occasion requires
Take five grains each of prepared Filed Steel and Cinnamon powder, and ten grains of White sugar. Mix and make a pill and take a dose of twenty three
Take crushed two ounces of Peruvian Bark, two drachms of orange rind and two pounds of boiling water. Leave it to rest overnight and strain, and when finished add Tincture of Peruvian Bark etc.
