For Mrs Macneil

The tumor on the shoulder requires no application. No application
would take it away and most of them would do harm.

For the pains of her hip joint & knee, the most effectual thing
is blistering. When she gets home, apply a blister to the outside of
the hip joint or a little below it. Let it heal in the ordinary way
& when this is done, apply a blister to the outside of the knee &
allow it to heal up in the same manner. If after these the

pain continue, repeat the blistering as before, & such repetitions
generally cures the disease. & Mrs Macneil will need only to avoid
cold, & wet, to prevent a relapse. & for this purpose wear a
flannel shirt next her skin, flannel drawers & worsted under
stockings. Apply the flesh brush to the left thigh & leg for
some time every morning.
