Mrs Taylor ----

At Mrs Taylors time of life, a stroke of Palsy is an
unfavourable circumstance & tho it is on the other hand
favourable that it has yield↑e↑d in that measure so soon, yet
her friends have reason to apprehend a return, & it is proper
to take every precaution necessary against it. The following
measures seem most probable. --

1 If she is able to be carried abroad, let her be frequently on X
Horseback, & travel to what length she can bear, avoiding cold
& heat wet. If she cannot be carried abroad, let the Chamber
Machine
be employ'd as frequently as convenient. Whether she
is to go abroad or remain within, let her whole body & espe¬
cially her right side, be rubb'd with a flesh brush every morning
Let it be moderate but long continued, & it is only necessary
in the morning. ----

2 Let the Seton or Pea Issue be put into her neck, the last
is the easiest, & an Issue may be made on [eap?] spine of the
neck in the places nearly where the ends of a Seton are brought
out.

3 Let her take every morning or Evening a Table Spoonful of un¬
bruised mustard
. If this ↑does↑ not keep the belly open regular, take
one or 2 of the Laxative Pills ordered below at Bedtime. It is
to be hoped - the either the mustard or Pills will prevent
the cholic Pains. --

4 Let her take a little more Animal food than hitherto
but let it be light & suited to her teeth. -- Broths, Jellies
&c may answer the purpose. A little wine proper, but
a small quantity will be proper a sufficient cordial to
her, who has formerly taken a little. ---

5 If any numbness or Palsy threaten any Limb, it

[Page 2]

may be proper to employ Electricity, but let the shock be
moderate & often repeated, confining them to Limbs, & avoi¬
ding their coming near the Head. -

6 These will be the most effectual measures, but few me¬
decines can be of service, I have ordered below a Draught to be
taken at bedtime 2 or 3 times a week while there are any {illeg}
{illeg} of the last attack, after that she may take it seldomer --

Take a drachm of aloetic pills, twelve grams of gamboge, enough simple syrup to make a mass to divide into pills of five grams each. - Laxative Pills one or two for a Dose at Bed time

Take a drachm of elixir of volatile guaiacum - Mix with a little bit of egg yolk and little by little add two ounces of simple syrup, and an ounce of simple cinnamon water to make a [mixture?]. Label Diaphoretic Draught taken at bed time, washing it down with a small Draught of negus not very warm.
