To Mr Lorrain Concerning Mr Sanderson.

As your last operation seems to have been very properly
managed, I would not have the Medicine tried again for some
time

The State of his Stomach now the urgent Symptom to
relieve it the Bark Infusion vid Advice for Robert Ligertwood 1
of which he may take a table spoonfull 3 or 4 times a day
increasing the Dose till he can take four table Spoonfulls at a dose

With it let him take of the Elixir Vitriol in the proportion
of five or Seven drops to the Ounce of the Infusion --
Some Stomachs agree better with the plain Acid of
Vitriol
& you may try this formula

Take six ounces of rose water, three drachms of syrup of dried rose and Spirit of Vitriol; Mix, Label Stomachic Mixture, a tea Spoonfull in a little Water three or four times a day

He should use a light Diet - If weak broth & farina¬
cea. You may try some Acid with there such as Currant
Jelly or a Squeeze of Lemon, unless it is found to increase
the Acidity of his Stomach. --- If the Acidity he has been
troubled with continues you may employ Magnesia Alba both
to correct this & keep his belly open - If Milk agrees with
him let him have some of it - If the pains fix again in his neck
a blister may be applied.
