For Mr Carr of Etall

Nothing in your complaints but a little weakness in the retention
of your urine, & ↑can see↑ no evidence of Diabetes. Your voiding
urine on walking a little after your toast & water, is owing
[to?] the state of the bladder. for in that time the water could
no have got to the kidneis-. No strong medicines but as
a man advances in life the retentive faculty might become
weaker so I would do a little to guard against its going too
far. Have yourself sent Strengthening powders fit for streng¬
thens the neck of the bladder. Take one of them in the forenoon
either immidiately before or after your forenoons ride &
another at 7 p.m. best in a glass of toast water & wash
down with the same. Begin to [use?] powders in about a week
or a fortnight after you have finished the last Electuary & efter
taking them for a week lay them aside for afortnight & then
take them again for a week. You are liable to be
costive. So long as Magnesia answers in the manner
you say, take a dose of it now & then, but not frequently
for it would faiil or require too bulky a dose. I have
sent some Laxative Pills in its place, one or two at
bedtime. Your diet at present very well. Continue
your warm cow milk in the morning, unless it increase your
costiveness. When you take a Pill, or Magnesia, for
{illeg} morning let the milk alone, & in its place take a
draught of new drawn cow milk whey. At any time but

not largely may take a draught of new churned butter
milk. May take fruit, but ripe & moderaty.
