To Robert Stevens of Broadland Esquire -

I had your line this morning & am afraid I shall be disap¬
pointed in my Oil. But if it answers this forenoon you will
go on with it & if you have not enough the Recipe below will
get you some from Aberdeen. but if not good Ill provide you
If the Oil does not answer, you must try some other Laxatives
Flor Sulph. from one to two tea spoonfulls mixed with honey
& taken in the morning generally answers well. At first take it
every morning for several days, but afterwards I hope you
will find that twice a week will answer - If it does not
or the bulkiness of the dose is disagreable I have subjoined
a prescription which I hope will answer. Take it like the
Sulphur for two or three days together, but afterwards
seldomer. -- The Oil is to be taken in the morning
