Before using the liniment let a leech or 2 be ap¬
plied to each temple as near to the eye as may be
conveniently done. but taking care to keep off the eyelids.

The dosis after this at bedtime let the bigness of a
large pin head of 1 liniment be put between the eyelids
of each eye. It will be best put in out at the outer
corner &. the. motion of the eyelids will soon work
it to the other.

If this liniment is found to give no irritation
or very little only the application may be repeated every night
for a week & both the strength & quantity of {illeg} the
liniment applied may be a little increased but I
would not have the application continued longer than for 8
days at one time & the effects of that will give some
directions how soon it should be renewed.

While the ointment is employed no other application is to be made only the eyes are to be washed
every morning with water neither hot nor cold.

During the use of the ointment close confimenet is
not necessary but the eyes should not be exposed at
windows or by going abroad to any sharp cold.

During the use of the ointment it will be
proper to purge with a dose of Jalap & Calomel
