Colll. Clerk's 2d. Letter dated May 16th. ––mentions
Vizt.
Ever since I wrote you last I have been
tormented with the Head Ach almost constant
& unremitted –– the Head Ach is now most
alarming with a constant degree of Fever
which I really believe occasions my prodigious
weakness with no sleep & ever restless in
bed and head Ach worse in the night, I have
lost my Appetite can eat no breakfast
little dinner and on Account of my fever
eat very little meat of any kind –– Vegetables
I mean to give a fair tryal to –– the Wine
heated & was again Obliged to desist –– I am
now trying small Beer & a little Ale ––
my great debility is what I cannot Account for
as it is thought by Mrs. Clark & others that I
do not waste –– my frequent desire and
difficulty & pain in making Water with the
constant costiveness continue, My pulse never
under 80. I believe I have said every thing
for Dr. Cullen to know, I wish he shou'd –– I take
no Medicine but a little Rhubarb Castor oil
& Tinct. Sacra sometimes, I Bathe once a Week
I don't find myself the better of it –– By my
own Advice I was blooded two days ago my
Blood a blue cast livid thro' it like Jelly
the Doctor may know –– the Surgeon said –– a
Symptom of great inflamation ––
