Glasgow May 8th. 1782,
Dear Sir
Your friend Mr. James Fleming
died yesterday. His Complaints or Symptoms of Disease
gradually encreased without any thing new Recurring
Upon opening him this day by Mr. Wallace in
presence of Severals of the Faculty, we found the
Cause of his Death. Exactly what was early
foretold. The Cardia Compleatly Schirrous
and a Suppuration begun. The passage into
the Stomach only admitted of a small quill
the Œsophagus, the body of the Stomach. &
Viscera sound. I'm induced to give you this
information. as all Concerned were Satisfied
at his being opened, and indeed it was
his particular desire, to his wife, not to
hinder it if the Midical people Choosed it
