Maitlands land December 31st.
1781
Dear Sir


I take the liberty to give you this
trouble in Consiquence of a letter I
have had from Lochaber, wherein I'm
inform'd that my Dear Husband is in
great Distress, Since the 6th. November he
has been Sezed with a Palsy in his
tongue
& naw both his arms, and is
often as bad as when he was at
Broughton, but that in his intervals
in Calls for Port wine, and they wish
to know if he may get a glass naw
& then to quiet him when he Calls
so much for it, this question they

Ask'd at me, but I wou'd not take it
upon me to write 'till I Shou'd have
your oppinion, which I trust you will
give me and add to the many
favours already Confer'd upon
