My Mother aged 73, has been complaining
for about 9 months of a Gravel in the
first stage her urine was deepley tinged
with blood which continued for about
6 weeks and since has been in her [ordinary?]
but distressed with violent pain especially
in voiding urine and often very sick
still wh within these few days it has[e?]
returned & still continues but not so
bad by appearence as at first tho'
attended with more pain, weakness &
sickness she being often obliged to go
to bed for ease 5 or 6 times a day [which?] (↑being↑)
[is?] (↑partly↑) owing to a weakness & swelling
in her left leg which is very painfull
upon motion the cause we assign is
her being so much waisted with
that complaint and that leg being
weakned by a long running which was
occassioned by a cut she got going over
a stone dyke in her young days.

We have {illeg} tryed a number of
medicines without effect; therefore much
by your assistance to try if possible to
remove it or at least to ease it.
Her appetite is midling good once a
day for she has not since this trouble
first [attackd?] her taken above one meal
in the day; thirsty by times, Belly [regular?]
Inclosed I send you two Guinea notes
if too much you'll please send the
Balance to Thos Adair Esq.r writer to
the signet if too little Mr Adair will
pay the balance for I have no {illeg}
notion of what your demands may be
For Godsake do all in your ↑power↑ to relieve
her as soon as possible
