I was favor'd with yours Prescrybing
the Balsam Capaib; but of which I have been able
to take non Owing to a looseness which I have
Labor'd under these eight days past and find
it difficult to {illeg} (Cheque) for I have taken a vomit
of Ipecacuum and after that a small dose of Rheuburb
but without much effect for altho' my Stomack
parted with much disagreable stuff the Looseness
still goes on at the rate of three or four times
and sometimes once more in the twenty four hours.
Inclosed I send yow Two Guineas which
the above mentioned Illness prevented me from
attending to last week on the day when the
carrier went over.
My Rheumatic pains seem almost
Quyte gone only a very large swelling --
continues to hang about my knee and seems
to be going down the Leg very deliberatly the
Swelling about the hip joint is very inconsider¬
able notwithstanding of all this the Thigh is
exceedingly weak and I can only move it
Right forwards when walking upon

Crutches but not either side.
May I just now take the Strengthning
drops for my Stomack Prescribed last --
Summer.
