Miss Frances Simpson for whom
you were consulted in November last, began
the Use of the Medicines, you Prescribed
for Her, on Monday gone five weeks, and
has continued them very regularly ever
Since; - the Cicuta Pills particularly, &
to that degree of Tremor &c you wished
{illeg} expected from their Use, -- the Mercurials
have not been so regularly persisted in,
on Account of now & then Her mouth
becoming affected, upon which they
were omitted, till the Slight bad taste
relaxed and then She began afresh ----
--- In this way She is now proceeding -

-- On Wednesday last I visited Her at
Bradley and having seen Her at Newcastle
before you were consulted at Edinburgh I
really cannot at present perceive any
very apparent difference in Her general
Looks, nor in any other circumstance.
--- The Family think Her Abdominal
Bulk Less, by the measure of Her stays,
but She is still much bigger than formerly
when in Health, being then Slim & Gen¬
teel ---- The Moment I first saw Her
after returning from London the disorder
appeared to be in the Ovaria -- a very
careful examination confirmed my
opinion so far as I was able to judge from
circumstances, more especially where

those Uterine appendages, not having any
Natural discharges, prevents our ascer¬
taining distinctions which are more --
{illeg} (↑obvious↑) in the Urinary, Bilious and
other of the Excretories, which have ---
--- Miss Simpson's pulse is small
& Quick, but She has no degree of Hectick
worth attention ---- She Eats & Slee[ps]
well & appears Chearfull, but doe[s not]
get Flesh ---- We shall proceed accor¬
ding to directions till I have the Honor
of your farther intentions, and be so
obliging as Order, Directed to me, by the
↑first↑ Newcastle Coach another Parcell of the
Pulvis Folium Cicutic - I am Sir your Most
Obedient Humble Servant
