Dear Sir

I received yours concerning Mr Brown & would
have mentioned in my last letter to you my suspicions of the strumous
Diathesis, but as I saw by Your first letter you seemed to suspect it,
thought it needless. However I can assure you several of his near
Connections have have been Scrophulous, his Brother & one of his
sisters when young had it, tho' not so bad as some of the preceeding
Generation, he is third fram Father to son that I can remember &
most of them were either Rickety or Scrophulous.

As to the Salt water, he tried it twice or thrice before -
Indeed I don't think they were fair trials for he was every other -
Day obliged to attend business here & perhaps Ride back to his -
Quarters five or six long Computed miles at Ten or eleven o'clock
at night, which certainly Did his eyes more harm than the short stay
he took could be expected to Do Good. However if you prefer the salt
water to the Mercurial Course with the sarsaparilla & be so kind as Give Your Direc¬
tions, I am certain he will follow them for he is a very good Patient in eve¬
ry thing, except where his Hospitality is concerned, he has too Often Com¬
pany at night, & is apt to eat by way of Example, & tho he is very Cautious
in the article of Drink which is water Coloured with red wine, Yet he is hurt by
sitting too late. I have nothing further to add but to beg you will inform
me where I will Gett the Mezereon Good, as this is a bad Season for lifting Roots
otherwise I could lift it from the Garden, & to believe that I am with much esteem

Dear Sir
Your Most Obedient Servant
