For Miss Crawfurd.

In the present circumstances of Miss Crawfurds
complaints we think it very necessary ↑for her↑ to get as soon as
possible into a better climate and for that purpose
she should immediately set out for the South and if it
was possible we should wish her to get to the South
of France. But when we consider ↑the time of the year↑ Miss Crawfurd's weakness
& the slow manner in which she must necessarily travel
we percieve that it is impossible for her to get to
the South of France till such a season as it would
render it necessary for her to return immediately
again to the North, for we think it would be very
dangerous for her to pass the Summer in so warm
a climate as the south of France. We are therfore
of Opinion that she ought not to attempt going to

[Page 2]

France at present nor ↑till↑ towards the month of October
next. In the mean time we hope it will be enough
for her to get to the South of England an where she
will find a much better season than here with us
and where therefore she may remain till it is thought
proper & convenient for her to go over to Holland

In travelling to the South Miss C. must go
in a coach with only two other persons in it that when
it is proper she may have one side of the coach to lie
along upon & to avoid fatigue she should frequently
take this measure.

With all this she should travel very slowly
taking only one Sta for some days one stage a day only
& even travelling this at great leisure.

When she becomes stronger as we expect
she will from upon the journey & especially when

[Page 3]

the roads become smoother she may take two stages
a day and to prepare for this she should by degrees
accustom herself to get out more early in the forenoon
so that she may at length get out by ten oclock &
therefore be able to make out two stages ↑some time↑ before Sunset.
↑For↑ It will be always proper to finish the whole days
Journey before that time.

In the management of this Journey we need
hardly say that it is especially necessary to gaurd
against Cold. For this Purpose it will be proper for Miss
C. to carry her {illeg}own bed linnen ↑along with her↑ & set (↑send↑) on always a
day before to secure a warm lodging & to have it prepared
& warmed with a good fire.

When she makes two stages a day she should
take some rest on a bed between them provided (ing) she
is not liable to much heat on lying down for in that
case it would be better to m depend upon resting in the

[Page 4]

coach & making a short stop only at the stage.

Between stages she should take only a dish of
Chocolate or some other such slight thing & delay a
fuller meal till she has finished her whole days
journey.

Upon the road Miss Crawfurds diet must be
much as it has been of late, for the most part light
but when her appetite mends & disposes to it she
may take a little light meat.

It will be proper still even upon the road to
continue the Infusion of the Bark she has been
using for some time past

It will be still more necessary to continue
her Laudanum at nights & even to increase the
dose after the dose she is now taking has been continued
for some time
