Normalized Text
For Dr. Alexr Stevenson
I have been favoured with both yours of the 23d.
& 27th. current
but both of them came here only on Saturday last
when I was in the Country
I have the same views precisely as you have
of Lady Grace's Case. There is a general debility of the
Nervous System which was never strong & I perceived it
declining for sometime past. The stimulating & strengthening
[Page 2]
measures are in my opinion the only admissable
If she bears the Cold Bathing I shall expect good
from it, her exercise is also a material article, but
great care must be taken to avoid Cold. The blister
was certainly a proper remedy and you certainly
have done right in avoiding the Issue both for the
sake of the Bathing & with the view to another blister
The Bark & Valerian are proper on every supposition
but this with the Mustard will I fancy be enough,
for medicines at present. I am not acquainted
with the practice of bruising the Mustard, if you
think another Drug necessary I have a good opinion
of the Elixir Guaic. Vol. but leave you to choose for
yourself
