Letter from Charles Brown concerning the case of General Beckwith, a 66-year-old veteran of the Seven Years' War, in which he served under Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick. He now lives in Northumberland. He used to keep a pack of hounds, but now is suffering from 'a kind of Rheumatic Gout' and the gravel. He has also suffered 'great dejection of mind in short he has lost all his Phylosophy', and secretly takes laudanum at night. Brown describes the various medicines he has employed, and has recommended that Beckwith use a 'spring chair' for exercise. | 15 October 1787 | |||
