Provost Hamilton. Murdieston

He cannot bear riding yet air & exercise are proper; it must be
taken in a carriage in the morning or evening according the heat of the
day.

A Full diet would be very improper. It must be light & cooling but in
obedience to the former habits he may have a few glasses of wine or Punch.

Keep his belly regular. If the white mustard formerly ordered
answers the purpose nothing can be better. If there be no boil on
his neck in the place where a Seton is commonly put, ↑we↑ I advise one
to be put in immediately.

Continue the Sassafras tea & take the medicine ordered below
When the Seton has been put in & begun to discharge right
let Dr Wardrop write me &c.

Take two drachms each of Volatile Elixir of Guiacum and refined white sugar. Blend well together then slowly add half-an-ounce of thick Gum Arabic Muscilage. Slowly add in Simple Cinnamon Water, Peppermint Water, and Rose Water at the rate of two ounces of each; with a drachm of Volatile Tincture of Valerian, and an ounce of Simple Syrup. Mix. Label: Cephalic mixture a table spoonful night & morning.
