For Mr Allan

He Labours under a weakness both of his breast and Stomach which
is to be cured by a proper regimen; but this difficult to order as
what might agree with answer for his Stomach, may not for his breast

He must therefore observe as well as he can a temperament
between solid and windy food. ---- A little of the lighter kinds of
meat at Dinner ---- no meat at supper and if any thing at all
some grain or farinacea - If he can digest milk it should make
a great deal part of his Diet -- Water the only safe drink - no
malt liquor - nor wine if he takes milk -- only a little spirits
& water when his stomach is in disorder & that very sparingly
Tea and Coffee are both bad for him. Cocoa tea or Choc weak
Chocolate he may take with safety --- Moderate fresh air
and exercise will be of the greatest service; but he must walk
always in the most gentle manner but being frequently on horseĀ¬
back always the best -- Avoid cold -- & even wear a flannel shirt
next his skin during Summer -- at all times avoid Costiveness
& therefore a little Rhubarb or Andersons Pill very frequently.
I have but one medicine --- the cooling Mixture ---
