Miss M Ferguson
Madam

I have again considered your case as carefully
as I can and shall be happy to deliver you from all your
complaints which however will require some time and pains.

I still think the prescriptions I gave in my former letter
proper one but before you begin to take it you should take
a gentle vomit of ten grains of Ipecacuanha. After [that?] you
may enter upon the diaphoretic Mixture according to the dirĀ¬
ections I gave in my last. I prescribed no more than would
serve for eight days but I would have you take it at least for
a fortnight {illeg} for it will take that time to judge properly of
its effects. I expect it will keep you regular in your belly
but if it does not you must take a pill every three of four days.

During the use of these medicines you must abstain entirely
from all kinds of fish, from all kinds of salted meat, from
eggs and cheese. You may otherwise take any kind of {illeg}
{illeg}. A full diet of animal food would be improper
but {illeg} milk and vegetables would be as much so

[Page 2]

[your] {illeg} [should be small beer?] {illeg}
{illeg} [you are able to take?] {illeg}
{illeg}
{illeg}
{illeg} [some thing?] {illeg} you may
take {illeg} When you have made
{illeg} [fortnight?] let me hear from you
and [you may depend?] upon the most punctual attention
from
