James Johnston Surgeon Moffat for Mrs.. Little

happy so difficult a case admits of some alleviation & tho from
the facts I mentioned, we may carry Chalybeates too far, yet from
frequent experiences, in many cases I think they do best, introduced by
degrees. Continue then the Limatura, as the stomach bears
but in case of smaller doses, continue it for the longer time
Tho Mrs Littel is best when costive, too long costiveness & it will
be lucky if the suppository answer. The Ascarides, possible
& tho her ailments do not seem to depend on these I would willingly
rid her of them but this, in her case difficult. Harrowg. water
or ther such saline, will often answer but here inadmissible
I commonly employ saline & fœtid glysters. but these hardly
to be employed here. In case of more violent costiveness if you
fin a salini glyster necessary, you will judge from the effect
which she can bear and proceed accordingly. Let in the mean
time the Ascarides alone, till more necessary.
