For A young Lady.

Disorder purely hysterical it may return but not to continue
& the coming on of the menses will put an end to it.

When this will happen in a young lady of small stature & no full
habit, is uncertain, but measures must be taken favour it & in the
mean time we must moderate the Hyster. disorder.

We hope the attack on Thursday the 12th is now well over or as
we know no circumstances since 20th, no advice with regard to it,
& all to be done is to guard against the next expected near the end of
the 2 week of February.

If at present in good health: go abroad & exercise every day wal¬
king riding or carriage according to weather, former habits or
liking. -as [inc?] if possible as to give sleep at night.

Diet of a middling kind. a little animal fat every day at dinner,
but of the lighter kinds & never a full meal of it but made up
with broth & pudding. Roots & greens very sparingly, but grain
& everything made of it very proper. Supper of these without animal food
or even an egg. Milk if digested well, at pleasure.

For ordinary drink plain water best, but if disposed to costiveness
a little wine in it, or in place of both, good small beer.

Tea & Coffee improper, unless attached to tea, but it must
be very weak, & with bread & butter, at breakfast.

Belly to be kept regular if necessary, & the best medicine is a
full ordered on the other page & altho her belly be regular one the appreciated
of next full moon, every other not, both then & during a fit if it come one
a dose of these pills.

6 days before full moon [t.e.?] 9th. Feby. begin & continue every [est.?] to have
feet & legs in warm water 1/2 an hour before going to bed.

When any [feverishness?] &c appear the Cephal. draught ordered, at bed time.
If this give sleep & composure repeat it 2 or 3 nights or every night night while
any disorder of her spirits remains.

[Page 2]

This medicine unless very good, will have little effect & if it is sus¬
pected, it need not be urged but in place, the Cephal Pills ordered
below.

If upon the coming on of the fit any headach, beating of the tem¬
ples
&c or any other symptoms of fullness or turgescency of the blood
a little may be drawn in any way the Lady admits, but if leeches,
apply them to the templs rather than the feet. If particular marks of
fullness occur blood letting omitted altogether

If the fit be attended by more disorder of the brain repeat the blister
applyed either to back or head

If considerable disorder, with long want of sleep, & P. neither
frequent nor full an Opiate. But this to the Physician or Surgeon
on the Spots discretion.
