For Mrs Thorburn


1. Continue to take the powders for eight days from
the time she first began them; & after that only every second
or third day; tho this matter will be more properly ordered
when I know the ↑report↑ effects they have had already


2. Begin to take the drops & infusion ordered below; twice
a day; once between eleven & twelve forenoon & again between
seven & eight of the Evening.

3. Let her Diet for some time be entirely of milk & grain.
If she does not easily digest plain milk, let her take it
with equal part of thin water gruel well sweetened with
sugar: & this mixture may be used as plain milk with
any grain.


4. Drink plain neither cold nor warm. No malt li¬
quor or wine. Sometimes by way of Cordial she may
have burnt brandy & water. No tea or coffee, but
the weakest: & instead of tea, take Cocoa.


5. Go on horseback in good weather but guard against
cold & especially in her feet & legs.

Take two ounces of Tincture of Mars. Label: Strengthening Drops, 20 in a small cuppful of the following infusion twice a day.

Take four ounces each of Tincture of Peruvian bark simple cinnamon water and a pound and a half of boiling water. Mix. Label: [Strengthering?] Infusion, two or three tablespoonful with every dose of the Drops.
